About HB9HJI
Hello, I’m Chris
A radio amateur heart and soul, living in Amriswil in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. On funkwelt.net I share my passion for amateur radio – with hands-on articles, tools I’ve developed myself and reports from the shack and the great outdoors.
What you’ll find on funkwelt.net
Technical tips, product reviews and personal experiences from the shack – honest and straight from practice.
Help with setting up, optimising and maintaining your radio station, and with building antennas – clearly explained.
I regularly take part in national and international contests and share my experiences straight from the shack.
I support local radio clubs and community projects, and I’m actively involved in emergency communications.
⛰️ My passion: POTA – Parks on the Air
I really enjoy Parks on the Air because it is the perfect combination of being out in nature and amateur radio. Being able to make contacts from beautiful, often remote places turns every activation into a small adventure. POTA encourages me to discover new parks and nature reserves that I might otherwise never have visited – and connects me with radio amateurs all over the world. Finally, POTA helps us appreciate our natural surroundings, something that is very close to my heart.
🛠️ My big project: Ham-Tools
With Ham-Tools I’m developing my own logbook program – a tool made by a radio amateur for radio amateurs. Right in your browser you can manage, edit and analyse your logs: import and export of the common formats such as ADIF, Cabrillo, CSV and EDI, plus DXCC tracking, interactive maps and POTA and SOTA integration. Ham-Tools is my labour of love and keeps on growing – and I’m mighty proud to be creating something that makes everyday life easier for other radio amateurs.
